Australia’s transition needs a trained workforce. We’re helping to build it.

Backing the people who will build the grid.

The Powering Australia Academy trains the current and future clean energy workforce, right across the country, to work safely with the technology now turning up on their sites: solar, energy storage, electric vehicles and the systems that connect them.

Everything is delivered online. Self-paced courses are broken into short modules you can work through in your own time, alongside live seminars on set dates.

Courses range from free introductions for people with no background at all, through to advanced certification for working technicians. Every paid course is 100% refundable on completion, so your fee comes back to you when you finish.

Two grants to help you or your business.

Powering Australia’s $1.6 million Battery Workforce Skills & Training Grants Program runs through to the end of 2027, in multiple rounds. Put a grant to work at the Academy and the completion refund makes it go further still.

Battery Training Grant

If your business operates anywhere along the battery value chain, from mining and mineral processing through to installing solar battery systems, servicing electric vehicles, or recycling batteries at end of life, Powering Australia can help cover the cost of training your team.

Battery Training Material Development

Helping Australian businesses and training providers create the battery training materials the industry needs to close skills gaps, open up career pathways, and support the safe design, manufacture and handling of batteries.

Turning Australian resources into Australian industry.

Powering Australia is the federally backed Industry Growth Centre for clean-tech manufacturing. We connect industry, investment and research to turn the country’s natural resources into sustainable industrial capability, and into the workforce that runs it.

We work across transport, energy generation, networks, industrial decarbonisation and First Nations business outcomes, through five state-based nodes. The Academy is the skills and training arm of that work.

5,500+ Connections Across industry, government and research, building Australia’s clean-tech manufacturing database.
5 State-based nodes Each led by experts supporting growth in batteries, solar, wind, transport, transmission and distribution, First Nations business and industrial decarbonisation.
$34M Awarded in funding Through the 2024-25 Federal Budget and the Building Future Battery Capabilities Program.

The market is growing faster than the workforce.

The global clean-tech market was worth A$2 trillion in 2024, and it’s set to nearly triple by 2035.

3xProjected growth in the global clean-tech manufacturing market between 2024 and 2035.

At the same time, demand for skills is surpassing supply in roles like system design, installation, integration, safe handling and recycling. Australia’s energy transition depends on closing that gap, which is why the Academy exists.

Empowering First Nations workers across the clean energy supply chain.

Powering Australia acknowledges the deep knowledge, cultural strength and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We’re committed to genuine partnership with First Nations communities and businesses, with practical pathways from VET entry to certified roles for remote communities and Traditional Owners.
